The Kamchia area was in communist times THE HUB of the Moscow elite who spend their holidays there in their Party allocated houses and resorts.Nowadays it is a UNESCO proptected area and no wonder that the present Moscow Mayor Yurii Luzhkov started recently a restaurant business in the Kamchia resort, situated near Bulgaria's biggest sea port of Varna.Officially inaugurated in the presence of Anatolii Shchelkunov, Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Varna. Mr.Krassimir Todorov,Mayor of Avren municipality ,of wich Kamchia is part, announced that this is one of the first in a series of projects started 15 years ago and is only a small part of the Russian plans for Kamchia.
The restaurant, situated close by the Kamchia River mouth, near the Oasis Complex,seats 250. All visitors of the Longoz hotel, which is also owned by Moscow municipality, will have their everyday meals there.
About 300-400 children from Moscow are on their vacation there now. The restaurant is surrounded by a conference hall, a pastry shop and small shopping centres. The complex was built on a part of the total of 12,8 ha of land bought by Luzhkov. A daycare center, a school and a sports complex with a football ground are planned to be constructed there. The overall concept for the resort's development will be presented later by a delegation of the Moscow government.The next Russian investment there will be a construction of a holiday village for 1 500-2 000 tourists.
